Wise Men Still Seek Him
Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 6:48PM Today being the 6th of January is the traditional Day of Epiphany. The day of revelation, sudden unveiling, manifestation. It is the day traditionally recognized as the day the Wise Men miraculously came upon the nativity scene in Bethlehem by following a star in the sky. It is the day that culminates the traditional 12 days of the Christmas season. And today, like most other days, starting in my typical morning place, thinking about the day ahead, thinking about the weeks and months ahead, the changes that are coming (that I know of) and the challenges we will face (that we know not of), my prayer is for a fresh revelation of God’s purpose and plan for my and my families lives, and for the lives of those I work with and serve. Not a “new” revelation but a fresh revelation. And the thought that came to mind was that in the complexity of this “day”, in the challenges we will face, with the weight of the task at hand, it is in the simplicity and vulnerability of a baby in a manger that I will find my strength and the answers I will need. The simplicity of who He is and the Life that He represents is where all wisdom can be found.
